DVHS - Delaware Valley High School
Community Relations
Our Board Members serve critical leadership roles, both at the local level and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  They also routinely work with surrounding public school districts and volunteer their efforts to the Pennsylvania Department of Education through service on the Standards and Assessment Committee and the Alternative Education Advisory Committee of Pennsylvania ("AEACPA"), by authoring the semi-annual publication of "Progressions," and a myriad of other activities designed to foster progress in our community to combat truancy, promote education, and other relevant causes that relate to "at risk" youth.

Our Board Member’s efforts have been recognized by our Governor, House Speaker, State Senators, State Representatives, educators and local officials for their outstanding efforts and accomplishments.

DVHS - Bustleton has always been a strong supporter of the Philadelphia and nearby suburban communities.  Some examples have been:
  • Our facility has been used as the local election center for two local wards for over fifteen years, in both primary and general elections. Community civic groups continually express appreciation for the ability to use the building, because it allows easy access for the many elderly residents in the area.
  • Our facility has been used to assist the local community during recent disasters. One example occurred several years ago, when a major fire erupted in a nearby apartment building when our building was made available to the firefighters and emergency personnel on the scene to use as a "command center". We received the Channel 10 News "Hometown Hero Award" for these efforts.
